BRINE-CURED AND SALTED HIDES
Offers
Brine cured or wet salted hides are offered as conventional /unfleshed (with the fat still on) or fleshed and trimmed.
Origin
Offers will specify the country of origin of the hides, ie Australia (New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland), UK or Venezuela.
Type
Offers will quote the type of hide and weight range, ie Cow/Ox (ave. weight over 23 kgs), Ox/Heifer (ave. weight 14kg to 23 kg), Bull, Yearling or Calf.
Selection
As sound and cut percentages may vary, each individual offer will specify the cut percentage. Typically the sound/cut percentages are offered on a 80/20 basis. Sound and cut hides are packed separately. Offers will specify the hide selection, eg:
Sounds
A hide that has no cuts in the prime but may have up to 3 cuts in the offal.
Cuts
A hide that has up to 3 cuts in the prime and or up to three cuts in the offal.
(A cut is defined as a hole penetrating through the skin. Flay marks which do not penetrate the skin are not classified as cuts.)
Low Grade (Faulty)
A hide with more than 3 cuts in the prime or with excessive defects such as large brands, warts, hair slip, poor cure, excessive holes or which is poorly shaped.
Straight Run or (S/R)
No sorting of ticky brands etc. Will include a cross section of hide production, ranging from tick-free or nearly tick-free to light, medium and heavy degree tick.
Ticky or (TKY)
Selections of 100% ticky hides (hides found to have evidence of tick or tick tracks).
Free of Visible Tick (FVT)
Hides which are visually free of tick but which may show tick damage under the hair.
Tick Free Areas or (TFA)
Hides ex Tick-Free Area of Queensland. Some hides may show signs of tick type damage once the hair is removed, which is generally much less extensive and severe than Straight Run (S/R) hides.
Packing
Hides are packed and strapped onto approved untreated wooden pallets.
Dependent upon the weight of hides ordered, a 20ft ocean freight container will hold approximately 20 pallets.
Weight Franchise
All shipments are subject to a weight franchise of 5%. |
